Замок Корматен в Бургундии.

Château de Cormatin, Burgundy, France.
Замок построил в начале XVII века некий Антуан дю Бле, выслужившийся из мелких дворян во время религиозных войн. Владение переходило из рук в руки, во времена Бель Эпок - с 1892 до 1951 г. его хозяином был директор Оперы Монте-Карло, Рауль Гюнсбург. Здесь гостили Массне, Карузо, Шаляпин. В библиотеке висит полотно "Античный хоровод", с которым связаны две великих картины классического модерна, каждая по-своему. (Загадка: какие и как? Ответ можно найти в снимках брошюры, но попробуйте сначала сами.)

А как Матисс связан именно с этой картиной? Не только внешним сходством.

Date: 2025-05-04 12:21 pm (UTC)The large painting, "Ronde Antique", is by the French painter Feyen-Perrin. It was exhibited at the Beaux Arts salon in Paris in 1863. At the same time and in a nearby room Manet was causing a scandal by showing a painting judged to be immoral and pornographic: the "Déjeuner sur l'Herbe ".
This painting was bought by Gunsbourg in Paris in 1909. The same year, Matisse painted a similar subject "La Danse", now in Moscow.
The two paintings have many points in common: format, meadows by the sea, group of five women, very similar poses for two of them, bobbed hair, hands reaching out to form a circle.
Feyen-Perrin boldly distorts the bodies to accentuate the impression of movement. Matisse was to take up this idea: it is very likely that he saw this painting when it was on sale in Paris and used it as the point of departure for his own creation.
